Hey I'm Devon Clarke. I'm a field technician on the install side and I'm happy to share a few things about myself.
Who is Devon?
I travel around the country and I install X-ray machines. I thoroughly enjoy interfacing with the clients and getting to see how this product is going to be a great benefit to their practice.
Now, who is the real, outside-the-dental-world Devon?
Outside of work I'm a husband, I have my wife and we've been married for 15 years. We have a small homestead south of Atlanta. We raise chickens and goats. We have a garden, we raise kids, we have six children. We have four boys and two girls ages 2-13.
How did you land at Renew Digital?
Kevin Marler, a good friend, brought me into the Renew Digital family. He and I we were friends about 20 years ago and then we lost contact. And then, recently in the wake of Hurricane Irma, by happenstance we reconnected. We were both doing Hurricane Relief service chopping trees down off of houses. And, anyhow, we found each other, became friends, met each other's wives respectively, and families. And we kept in touch, and he kept kind of throwing on that recruiting charm every time I saw him. And I sure am glad that he did, this has been a great career move and my wife and I couldn't be happier!
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I think people might be surprised to learn that I was formally contracted by the Dutch government as a killer. I was living in the Caribbean island of Bonaire, which is a nation of the Netherlands, and lionfish had invaded the reef there. And lionfish have no natural predators in the Caribbean, they decimate the health of the reef. So, one hundred scuba divers were selected and they trained us, they issued US Government spearing equipment, then gave us a license to kill. So we'd go to any dive shop, they had to give us free air, they'd sponsor us to go out and scuba dive as much as we could to kill lionfish. Then, I ate a lot of lionfish, killed a lot of lionfish, had a lot of fun, and probably had more than I should have lionfish ceviche.
What is your favorite thing about working for Renew Digital?
We're given all the tools to succeed, we're trained, we're given all the tools, and all the support needed. And also we're trusted to go out and make great things happen every single day. I oftentimes tell people that I feel like I'm on an all-Star baseball team where everyone's just performing at a high level, it really is fun.
Favorite guilty pleasure?
Oh my goodness guilty pleasure: licorice. I can't lay off it.
How would your co-workers describe you?
I believe that my co-workers would say that I have a high level of attention to detail. And, we have a great time when we're working together. I love working when I get to co-travel with some of the guys, and we we just kind of kick back, and really enjoy ourselves while making sure that we give our best efforts on the install side.
Favorite vacation spot?
My favorite vacation spot is a small lake out in Alabama, it's called Lake Wedowee. Every weekend in the summer, you'll find me and my wife and children. We have an old ski boat, we go out there, we camp and I just love pulling my kids up and down the lake.
What was your childhood dream?
Growing up I watched a lot of tennis. I played a lot of tennis: Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, Andre Agassi. I wanted to follow in their footsteps. My childhood dream was to win Wimbledon.
Final thoughts?
